11 and 12 May
Today we drove to New Orleans, amazing trip - most of the freeways are built over water (swamps), three lanes each way - how did they do that, think of the manpower and gumboots required!  The coach had a birthday enroute - a oil change etc at a Speedco and feeling loved again!

Luckily (by good management) we had booked into the French Quarter RV which was only about five blocks walking distance from Bourbon Street.

We arrived late afternoon and after setting up the RV and having a fortifying glass of wine we headed on down to Bourbon Street.  We were amazed for the second time in one day, it was party central even at 7pm.  Wandered along taking in the sights and sounds, watched buskers, took lots of photos,  had a drink at the famous Pat O'Briens Piano Bar - and we did have a Hurricane - but Kim drank it,  mine was a Rainstorm!.  We could have kept our special cocktail glasses as a momento but we decided the $3 refund each was better use in our pocket.  Popcorn to eat with your cocktail - only in America.

The music was awesome, mostly jazz, some cajun and zydeco I think it's called. But very loud and all styles competing with the bar next door.

Next day the boys worked on the RV (yay we now have both aircon units in working order) and Annie and I wandered down town again, caught a streetcar and rode through the Warehouse and Garden districts.  The architecture was really interesting, lots of beautiful old stately homes with manicured gardens.

Then we spent the afternoon shopping the River Walk Outlet Centre - so now I have a new Fossil handbag and new Guess sunglasses!  Can't say what Annie has, Brad might see the blog!  Had dinner at Harrahs Casino today, did you know if you are 62 you get age discounts here?  It worked for the Seafood and beef BBQ buffet at Harrahs anyway.

13 May
Long drive today, to the Gulf State Park at Gulfport, near Pensacola.  Park was beautiful, no wildlife though, just bunnies.  Had an open fire BBQ for dinner, anyone outside got attacked by enormous mating mosquitos!! Not mating at the time of course, but it is the season, and they were hungry.

14 May
Up early and off to Tallahassee today, capital city of Florida and the largest city there.  It was a beautiful drive along the coast this morning.  But most of the 250 mile drive was on the interstate.  Lost an hour going to EST and arrived around 4.30pm in the rain.  But it is still hot, just not as hot so expect to sleep good tonight. Getting late, so off for some zzz's - another adventure tomorrow. Seeya : )
