Thursday 16 July to Indiana (the crossroads of America)
Late start today, spent the morning talking with our
neighbours. Got on the I94 for most of
the trip west and once again got the photo of crossing the state line from
Michigan into Indiana. Not only that,
the time changes back an hour as well.
The State Park we wanted to stay at was full so headed another 30 miles
south and booked into Cedar Lake RV park.
We aren’t actually on the lake so will probably head off again in the
morning.
Had the loudest thunder I have ever heard tonight, then a
bit of hard rain but it already looks to be clearing. It got dark earlier tonight. I guess we won’t get light until around
5.30am now, much more civilised for us who are on holiday.
Friday 17 July Indiana to Illinois
Wanted to stay a bit longer in Indiana but there is nothing
more for us to see at the top end and we don’t want to be any more miles south.
No racing at Indianapolis. There are lots of railroads here. It also seems to be quite a religious area,
especially in the north where we are. It
is a warm one today too, 90F+.
Crossed into Illinois and made our way to Leisure Lake Resort
near Joliet - they have a swimming pond and a pool, that’s where I am headed
right now to cool down. We found we had
lost a hubcap on the road today so Kim is googling where to get a replacement.
