Sept 4, Friday - TN to MS
We got up early – 7am had a quick cup of tea and wandered
over to Gracelands and the Reflection Garden to see the final resting place of
the Presley Family. Found it quite
moving, there were tributes from various groups of fans and it was a beautiful
spot, right behind the Graceland mansion.
The pool in the back had a diving board, I can so imagine a young buffed Elvis dive
bombing off it!
Then back on the road again, down the I 55 to Grenada (they
pronounce it Gren aid a) with a quick stop at Walmart for extra supplies for
the long weekend.
On the way we were considering crossing over into Arkansis,
to the west of us, just to say we have driven in some of that state too, maybe
when we leave here, not today. Mississippi
State is quite flat, although we did come across more inclines the further
south we drove.
Once again these State Parks confound us, nobody at the
office and no map or notices to give us any clues, so we trundle into the park
and try and find our site, not even sure if we are in the right section of the huge
park. A phone call sorts it all out, our
site is 001 the very first on the right as you enter the park and has an orange
cone at the entrance to show the site has been reserved. We see everyone come and go, but our site is
large, with trees and we have 50amp power, very necessary when it is 95F
outside. Our picnic table, fire ring and
BBQ grill are set way back from the road so it is not like everyone can see us
as they drive by.
