24 May to St Augustine and Jacksonville – another beautiful day in Paradise!

Lovely drive today on mostly country roads again.  This is a long weekend, commemorating Memorial day on Monday so there are people and American flags everywhere.  The cemeteries are all bedecked with flowers.   St Augustine is the oldest city in the State was it was packed, we crawled up the very narrow two lane main street which did give us a great vantage point to watch the proceedings, at least for me, Kim was concentrating on keeping the RV in our very skinny lane.  Nice white sand beach here too and lovely waterways further south but not so visable from the road.

Our home for the night is Pecan Park RV Resort, just north of Jacksonville.  This was our second choice, the first park was full.  We arrived around 4pm and found the flea market which is right next door and run by the resort closes at 5pm so locked the RV and went for a wander.  Mostly flea market stuff and a lot of the stalls were closing but did see some really good leather jackets, bags, bikey stuff etc.  Made a mental note to stop off at another flea market sometime.

This is a resort with no ambience and at $46.78 a night does not offer much for us.  We took one of the last sites available and were right at the opposite end to the pool, laundry and bathroom facilities.  Even the people didn’t seem very friendly, we usually manage to make some new BFF’s at our overnighters, but not this time.  153 miles today, which is just a nice cruisey distance.

  1. Did you know that Pecan Park Flee Market had a big fire go through it.
Was on the news a month or so back.
