August 19 Indiana to Kentucky -  via the Dentist

The other day Kim broke off a piece of a molar but it didn’t seem to cause any bother at the time.  The broken piece has held pride of place on the bench since  though!  I think he was waiting for the tooth fairy : )

This morning while dining on cornflakes and strawberries a piece of the filling came out.  This could be bad, very bad.  We google “emergency dentist near Indianapolis” and up comes several options.  First one couldn’t see him today but they recommended another larger practice nearby.  We phoned them and they can take him this morning and they are located across the road from a shopping centre with parking for an RV.  Perfect!  In we go and out we come a couple of hours later with a ‘build up’ and a numb face, but all fixed.  It all went surprisingly smoothly, we are impressed the system does work.  Our Southern Cross Insurance Policy does cover Emergency Dental Treatment from ‘an unexpected event’, so we will see how that system works.  The total cost was only US$223 with the consultation and xrays no charge.

Still have time to drive south to Kentucky so we start off on the Interstate but the condition of the road and miles of road works force us to abandon it in favour of a two lane country road for a while.  We cross the state line - the Ohio River at a little town called Madison.  GPS’s can’t then agree which way to take us so we go with the long version which is modelled on our height and weight so should be better.  Think the shorter option would not have been any worse and quicker!

We are staying at the General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton, KY.  Nobody on duty at the gate so we choose a full hook-up site, fill in a reservation envelope, poke some cash in there and just as we were getting the bikes off the back to take it up to the office it started to rain.  Slight delay while we wait for it to dry out a bit.

Took the bikes down to the office after dinner to deposit our reservation and explore.  Came across five deer just wandering over the road.
