August 20, Thursday

Sunshine again!  Did some more exploring by bike this morning and find there is not much for us to do at this park so we will move on today.  The north of Kentucky is hilly and even the Interstate meanders.  Passed a sign to Transylvania University just out of Lexington, drove by quick with a wooden stake within reach!  Anyway vampires don’t like sunshine do they!

This is horse country - the Kentucky Derby and there are lots of horse parks.  It's a;so Daniel Boone territory and the home of the feuding Hatfields & McCoys.  I keep searching the fields for blue grass, but it seems we need to be here in spring to see that!  It‘s also famous for Kentucky bourbon and of course KFC.   Bowling Green, KY is where all Corvettes are made.

South of Lexington we come to a little place called Beria which is famous for art and crafts.  We stop at another rustic camp ground called Walnut Meadow, it’s a family run campground in it’s third generation.  They were super friendly people and the mother sounded just like Dolly Parton!
